Alicia McElhaney, in Institutional Investor, has penned an article querying how investor commitments are drastically different to their practice. Specifically, the article utilities data and research from SquareWell Partners which demonstrates that 96% of the top 50 asset managers are signatories to the United Nations Principles of Responsible Investment (UN PRI) equalling some $50.6 trillion compared to data from the Global Sustainable Investment Assocation (GSIA) stating that there are $30.7 trillion in sustainably managed assets. In other words, the investors who had signed on to the UN PRI weren’t always investing in sustainable assets.
